My Experience in Fiji

I first arrived in Australia in August 2025, and spent the following 6 months travelling around house sitting.

I was lucky enough to get some stunning sits in the big cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, as well as some gems on the south and Gold Coast.

I loved the Australian way of life, especially when compared to the cold, dark nights I had to endure in the British winter.

Especially in the cities, the hysteria of the ‘every creature in Australia is trying to kill you’ belief became even more absurd.

In my entire time in the country, I only saw one venemous snake (that was happily minding its own business) and spiders that were no bigger or scarier than those found at home.

In fact, I was disappointed to not see more of the ‘scary’ animals – a lifelong desire to see one of the famous sharks I read about as a child went unfulfilled.
